Indian Food Shop is a specialist ingredient sourcing and pre-order service connected with the team behind Indian Food Box. Tell us what you want to cook and how many people you are cooking for. We then confirm availability, price and pickup time.
Our long-term goal
Our goal is to build one of Iceland’s most useful online guides and ordering platforms for Indian ingredients—especially hard-to-find items, small quantities, tourist packs and practical recipe kits.
Is Indian Food Shop a normal walk-in grocery store?
No. We are a specialist ingredient sourcing service rather than a general retail grocery store. You are welcome to visit and place an order in person, but preparation and sourcing may take some time. Pre-ordering by WhatsApp is strongly recommended so we can confirm stock, price and when your order will be ready.
How do I order Indian ingredients?
Send a WhatsApp message to +354 786 4795. Include the item or dish, the amount you need and your preferred pickup day. A photo of the product or recipe is helpful when the name has different spellings.
Can I buy a small amount instead of a large packet?
Yes, for many dry ingredients we can prepare practical measured quantities. This is useful when a recipe needs only a few teaspoons of a spice or when you are staying in Iceland for a short time. Packaging options depend on the ingredient and availability.
Which products can you usually help with?
Requests commonly include Indian spices and masala blends, basmati rice, lentils and dal, chickpeas, selected flours, chutneys, snacks, hing and recipe-kit ingredients. The range changes, so nothing should be considered in stock until we confirm it.
Do you always have every item in stock?
No. Some ingredients are sourced only after an order, and availability in Iceland changes. We will tell you if the exact item is unavailable and ask before offering a reasonable substitute.
Where is pickup?
Orders are normally collected near Indian Food Box at Langirimi 21, 112 Reykjavík. You may also visit and place an order in person. Because stock and preparation time vary, messaging us first is strongly recommended.
Can you prepare a grocery pack for tourists?
Yes. Tell us how long you are staying, how many people are travelling and which meals you plan to cook. We can suggest a compact pack with measured spices and selected pantry items, subject to availability. See the Indian grocery packs for tourists guide.
Do you have complete Indian recipe kits?
We prepare small-batch kits for selected snacks, curries and dal dishes. Read the current Indian recipe-kit guide for examples and cooking instructions.
Can you guarantee allergen-free ingredients?
No. Always tell us about allergies before ordering and check the original manufacturer label. Ingredients portioned or prepared around a restaurant kitchen may be exposed to milk, gluten, nuts, mustard, sesame or other allergens. If safety is uncertain, do not use the product.
How are prices calculated?
The quote depends on product cost, quantity, sourcing and preparation. A small service or packing fee may be included. We confirm the total before preparing the order, so there is no obligation until you agree.
Do you deliver?
The standard service is pre-arranged pickup. If another option is possible for a particular order, it must be agreed in advance. Prepared restaurant food should be ordered through Indian Food Box online ordering.
Can you help me choose spices for a recipe?

You can visit and order in person, but you may need to wait while we check availability or prepare the requested quantity. For the quickest service, message us before travelling so we can confirm stock, price and a suitable pickup time. Website pages describe what we may be able to source but do not guarantee live stock.
